Well... how did I get here?

And you may ask yourself, “Well, how did I get here?”

This is a line from the Talking Head’s single “Once in a Lifetime”. It pretty much summarises how I’ve been feeling lately, so much and so little happening at the same time. I’ve got so much to complete on my to-do list, but just cant get myself to start working on them. I wake, sit at my desk for a day and welp its night time again.

I’ve been quite intrigued in graphic design and poster design for a while now. Again, the plan to learn graphic design always get pushed back simply because I cant decide on a tutorial or video to watch. Thus, I never got around learning the basics or making anything at all. Maybe it’s something to do with OCD, but I find myself not being able to decide or start a project because I cant envision the “scope” of it or foresee every aspect of it, which led to a ton of procrastination and backlogged ideas.

I came across this video by Elliot Ulm a few days ago. Watched half of the video, figured I like his style, and went to sleep. Luckily enough, youtube suggested another video of his the other day and I got really interested and motivated to try make something.

I watched a few more of his video and took his course on 21draw. A really simple and introductory course which guides you through making a “gradient orb” poster. And this is my first ever attempt at making a poster. The text comes from “Once in a Lifetime”, just randomly occurred to me when thinking about what to put there.

Nothing impressive, but fun stuff.

More to come.
