David Byrne Mosaic

I’ve gotten really burnt out from stuff lately and not really gotten anything done. So I want to spend some time making something without having to think too much. I went back to an idea that I’ve discovered from @tate.au.carre last year. I don’t know what to call it, but it’s some sort of “abstract collage/ mosaic”. So for now, I will be calling them Mosaics. It’s something I can simply turn my brain off and just cut and stick together. And the result is often quite satisfying.

The original picture is mirrored 4 ways. Then it’s sliced vertically into 1cm strips and interlaced alternately from the outer edges inward (L1, R1, L2, R2…). The same is then repeated horizontally.

I chose to do David Byrne because he’s an artist who I enjoyed and appreciate a lot recently. I’ve recently rediscovered my enjoyment of Talking Heads and David Byrne’s solo work which led me to discovering Tom Tom Club.

I know it has nothing to do with Byrne. But Tom Tom Club’s self-titled album is such a good album. It’s one of the few albums that I enjoy the entirety of, which is quite rare given my worryingly short and deteriorating attention span.
